Norfolk Manufacturing Roundtable
An opportunity for business leaders, local government representatives, councillors, trade organisations and key stakeholders to come together to surface regional manufacturing challenges and opportunities and turn discussion into informative insights.
The discussion will focus on:
• Challenges and opportunities: The first two sessions identify the top five manufacturing challenges and top five regional growth opportunities, drawing on business evidence and discussion of skills, energy costs, regulation, productivity, exports, finance, supply chains, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, automation, defence, clean energy, offshore wind, food manufacturing, new markets, and local supply chains.
• Government engagement: An MPs and councillors panel explores manufacturers’ policy needs, local authority support, responsiveness to industry, and the role of manufacturing in local growth plans. The intended outputs are a commitment register and named political actions, including practical steps government can pursue within the next six months.
• Action planning and outputs: Participants vote on the most urgent issue, the most significant growth opportunity, and the most important government intervention, then assign each action a lead organisation, supporting organisations, and target date. Proposed follow-up includes skills and innovation working groups, a quarterly MP engagement forum, a regional supplier directory, an export readiness workshop, and a formal paper to local authorities; the event aims to produce four reports or statements, including a joint industry-government action plan.
