Rising Cyber Risks in Manufacturing

With the gathering momentum of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the benefits to manufacturers in automation and the use of modern smart technology, have you also thought about the potential Cyber risks?

With more and more smart devices (IoT) and the increased use of technology, the risk from cyber attacks, internal and external, will increase and could bring your business to a complete standstill. Everyday in the news, you will hear of regular attacks that either shut down or have a material effect on businesses no matter what size, and there appears to be no slow-down so businesses should be prepared.

Cyber security needs to be addressed hand in hand with business transformation projects and should be seen as a top priority. Do not see it as an afterthought or overlook it as something that does not deliver a tangible benefit, so something you cannot touch or feel.

Ensure you get buy-in at all levels of the organisation, not just the IT team. This is key to ensure everyone is on board and will help with the implementation and ongoing support.

ACP are MAKE UK’s cyber security partner, and they can help you identify and address the risks to your business. ACP try to keep things simple and to provide businesses with a cost-effective solution.

After providing an Initial Assessment to identify the risks across all IT assets and the software running on them. ACP then checks that the software you are running is not out-of-date or no longer supported by the manufacturer. Attackers will target old and out-of-date software so it’s vital to ensure everything is up to date.

Finally, ACP will review what security controls you currently have in place to ensure these are adequate and will offer you the best protection possible.

Using Cyber Security standards such as Cyber Essentials, ACP look at best practice methods and help you implement these. ACP can even take you through the assessments to become certified.

ACP implements a solution that provides you with visibility of your overall risks, from the technology that you use through to your employees, in an easy-to-read dashboard.

As humans are the weakest link, ACP can provide cyber security training and testing to educate and evaluate the risks your employees pose.

If you don’t have the skills within your business, ACP can even provide a fully managed service that monitors, remediates, and provides proactive advice on keeping you more secure.
