CUER and ETA Green Power Partner to Drive Solar Racing Innovation

ETA Green Power Ltd announces its partnership with Cambridge University ECO Racing ‘CUER’, uniting cutting-edge electric drive technology with visionary student engineering to advance sustainable mobility. ETA proudly joins CUER as the chosen partner in developing state-of-the-art solar-powered race vehicles.

Back in 2024, the CUER team got in touch NAAME to see if we could support in finding a new partner for motors and other elements of the race vehicles. We were delighted to introduce CUER to ETA Green Power and see the partnership formerly announced this year.

CUER, one of the UK’s solar car racing teams, is a group of Cambridge students who design, build, and race solar vehicles. They compete in the prestigious World Solar Challenge — a demanding 3,000 km race from Darwin to Adelaide, Australia — against 40 elite teams from around the world.

In addition, ETA is thrilled to support the development of the SC7, the new race car set to compete in the 2026 iLumen European Solar Challenge (iESC) powered by Circuit Zolder. This unique 24-hour endurance race, held biennially at Belgium’s iconic former F1 Circuit Zolder, is the world’s only solar car event of its kind. With the SC7 prototype targeted for completion by mid-2025 for rigorous testing, ETA’s support will be crucial in meeting development milestones and preparing the car for the challenges ahead.

ETA will be involved in the 2024–2025 development of “Evolution,” a show car requiring a fully integrated powertrain system for testing and performance. Evolution will debut in a series of high-profile events, starting with an exhibition at the Engineering Department in June 2025. Following this, the show car will make appearances at the British Motor Show, select school events, and various trade shows, showcasing cutting-edge electric drive technology.

Through this collaboration, ETA Green Power will supply CUER with advanced drive systems.

Jeremias Pohle, Technical Director of CUER, expressed the team’s enthusiasm:

“The CUER team are delighted to have selected and be partnering with ETA Green Power for our vehicle development. We are looking forward to working with this innovative solution, to allow our vehicles to push the boundaries of sustainable transport.”

David Morgan, Co-founder, Executive Director of ETA Green Power, shared the company’s commitment to this impactful partnership: “ETA Green Power is delighted to be selected by CUER with our patented high power density drive system, designed to be significantly lighter and more compact than anything on the market. We look forward to empowering CUER’s ambitious goals with our cutting-edge electric drive system and to enabling their success through our contribution”

With this collaboration, CUER and ETA Green Power are pushing the boundaries of green innovation, showcasing what is possible.
