
A Decade of Contribution: Dr. Jamie Thums MBE as NAAME Chair
The New Anglia Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (NAAME) network is delighted to recognise the 10-year anniversary of Dr. Jamie Thums MBE serving as its Chair.
Since being elected to the role in 2015, Dr. Thums has been a driving force behind NAAME’s mission to connect businesses, foster collaboration, and boost the region’s global competitiveness.
Under his stewardship, NAAME has flourished, facilitating groundbreaking projects, attracting investment, and enhancing the skillset of workers. Specific achievements include the launch of Productivity East at the University of East Anglia; eight themed conferences to address topical themes such as digital adoption and decarbonisation; the development of four new regional manufacturing groups; and the provision of assistance to organisations and groups outside of the region.
In recognition of his tenure, Chris Starkie, Director of Growth and Investment at Norfolk County Council said:
“Over a decade, Dr. Thums’ has helped shape the manufacturing and engineering landscape regionally and beyond, during a period of ever-increasing technological change. His passion, expertise, and dedication have left an indelible mark, which provides the springboard for subsequent development and growth.”
Commenting on his 10-year anniversary, Dr. Thums added:
“It has been a real privilege to play a part in NAAME and to work alongside likeminded people to develop a respected regional cluster dedicated to manufacturing, engineering, and technology sectors. I remain committed to working with stakeholders to advance workplace digitalisation, workforce supply, and leadership.”
