The Future Material Requirements of Packaging

Oakdene Hollins and Valpak have been commissioned by the UKRI Innovate UK Transforming Foundation Industries Challenge to carry out research aimed at developing foresight into what material requirements the packaging industry might have in the next 30 years.

This research will enable the foundation industries to better understand:

• Market opportunities and threats.

• The possible impact of disruptive products or business models.

• Their short and medium term research needs.

We are particularly interested in understanding the impact of:

• Changes in your client or customer requirements.

• Major policy drivers, in particular the reduction of carbon emissions.

• Possible regulatory requirements.

• Advances in materials technology and product design.

The online industry event will discuss the outputs of this project. Join the cross-sector discussion to gain insight into what the alternate 2050 future scenarios might look like as well as the potential challenges and opportunities which might be faced. There will also be an opportunity to network and meet with industry and institutions online.
